Dallas 2008

We hit the road to Dallas after Christmas.  Our main reason was to the King Tut exhibit, something only seen in the US twice in the past 80 years.  We hit the road early on the 26th and headed to Dallas.  We stayed at a Staybridge Suites and it turned out to be a perfect hotel.  The room had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a complete kitchen which helped ensure family sanity. 

We visited the Galleria Mall before checking in.  This was Tiffany’s choice of activities so she could get in some shopping.  After checking in at the hotel we headed to the Speedway for some go-karts, games and mini-golf. 

We spent Saturday visiting the King Tut Exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art.  The exhibit was very cool.  The kids enjoyed being able to see artifacts more than 2,000 years old, some never seen outside Egypt. After King Tut we headed to the Boy Scout Museum where James and I had a blast.  It was an awesome museum with lots of hands-on activities for kids and adults.  I was impressed with the exhibits, it really jazzed me to get into collecting old Scout handbooks.

On Sunday we visited Six Flags in Arlington.  Although a little chilly, the lines were short and we had a blast riding the coasters.  The girls and I rode the Titan which was the most intense roller coaster I’ have ever strapped into.  We were more than a little dazed after the rides drops and speed.

We returned home Monday but not before stopping at the Dallas Zoo. We were the first people in the park and the chilly weather seemed to keep most of the animals indoors.  At first we thought we were in a bad Jurassic Park movie where none of the animals showed up.  Eventually the animals made their appearances.  The Dallas Zoo is very nice, and well worth the time. 

After we got on the highway headed home, the usual happened……everyone crashed and I was left alone to listen to Rush!
